The Fire Hole in Yellowstone National Park

Michael has been into "man tests" for a long time now... at least I have heard about them in stories since he was a young boy (the Engstrom family always have great stories to tell me about Michael's adolescence and childhood!).

One of his recent "man tests" was up at Yellowstone National Park at the Fire Hole. He decided to walk barefoot (with his flip-flops on his hands) across the shallow lake and to climb around all the rocks without falling into the water. Our brother-in-law Kyle soon followed, and brother John started out on the adventure as well.

The Fire Hole is a really cool place where the water is a little warmer than the lake water (but it's still freezing!) and there are natural little rapids that can be jumped into that will pull you through a little canyon into the open calm area. Michael & I, John & Christine, Katie, and Collette & Kyle all went and had a lot of fun "riding the rapids"!

This is the place where we jumped in and let the water take us through!

Wow, look how steep!

Michael and Kyle made it all the way around! I was truly amazed that they were able to make it without ever falling in! Some of the rock faces were really steep and jagged. Way to go guys!

Kyle (looking like a vampire)

Michael (he didn't let his flip-flops stop him!)

Okay, this is kind of a random picture, but I just HAD to post it! We were at the guysers in yellowstone and Aunt Katie got this funny picture of Afton... nice hair girlie!
